Under the pseudonym RYCA, Ryan Callanan draws on his disparate experiences in 3D design, commercial printing, and street art to make paintings, prints, hand-etched signs, and sculptures that riff on pop culture. Common themes include Star Wars, 1980s acid house culture, song lyrics which explore the use of colloquial words, song lyrics and popular quotes.
He has frequently collaborated with Fatboy slim, and some of his most recognisable works include his 3D resin acid house smiley faces. Ryan also created StolenSpace Gallery signage.
