With a keen interest in mythology and the human instinct to tell stories and create new creatures, Ejits pays homage to the idea of the Psychopomp. The Psychopomp is a creature from mythology said to guide the recently deceased to the next plane of existence. Literally translated, the word means “Soul Guide”. They are often depicted as imposing, skeletal beings shrouded in black robes.

However, Ejits challenges this sombre image, replacing the traditional grimness with playful, rounded shapes and bright, vibrant colour. The contrast between form and theme is both jarring and delightful and has a playful sense of humour.

Death is ever present but it doesn’t have to be feared; your Psychopomp will be waiting for you.
