This work unfolds as a quiet diptych, composed in monochrome and structured through
horizontal division. The upper image depicts a solitary house engulfed in flames, its form partially
obscured by smoke and reflected in a still body of water below. The scene feels distant and
suspended, as if unfolding in silence. Beneath it, a deer stands amid a field of wildflowers, its gaze
directed outward with a calm yet ambiguous presence. The softness of the vegetation contrasts
with the intensity of the burning structure above.

A subtle vertical distortion (made out of acrylic, used to prime the canvas) runs through both
images, introducing a textured interference that disrupts their clarity. This visual noise creates a
sense of unease, as though the images are memories or signals breaking down. Together, the two
scenes suggest a fragile coexistence between destruction and stillness, linking distant catastrophe
with intimate, natural observation in a suspended, contemplative tension.
